Having commenced operations back in 1965, Denver-based Rocky Mountain Airways from 1986 on flew as Continental Express in the distinctive red and gold colors of parent Continental Airlines of the time. Its Dash-7 aircraft with its short take-off and landing (STOL) characteristics were ideally suited for the mountainous regions and the often short and high-lying runways.
