Description

Tanker (MAN)

When the little one with the chubby cheeks supplied heating oil

It was essential for mineral oil companies to rely on small, highly manoeuvrable vehicles - especially for distribution transports that had to negotiate tight streets and alleyways. The little sister of the MAN Pausbacke came along exactly at the right time in the sixties as it offered a compact superstructure that was perfect for delivering oil to local households. This was, in fact, the era when households across the nation in Germany made the switch from fossil fuels to central oil heating systems or when, at least, oil stoves provided for comfortable heat in their living rooms. The number of heating oil tankers surged in the sixties as demand literally sky-rocketed in all regions. WIKING miniaturised the MAN 415 based on historical documents.
