During her reign from 1558-1603, Queen Elizabeth I used the profit from England's merchant activities to build a fine navy. Thus began a tradition of naval superiority that survived to the 20th century.

Amati's Elizabeathan Galleon kit of a typical 16th century English galleon is a fine quality kit. Keel, frames, and most other wooden parts are laser cut for easy assembly. Hull and deck planking, masts, blocks and deadeyes are wood. Metal fittings, including cannon, port hole covers, chain, eyebolts, anchor, and ornamentation are cast bronzed metal and brass.
